In 1860, the 24-year-old talented watchmaker and son of a farmer, Louis-Ulysse Chopard, opened a watch manufactory called "L.U.C.". His aim was to create timepieces "Made in Switzerland" as works of art, but with an innovative design. Through the standards he created in his chronometers and pocket watches, he became internationally known in a very short time.
The company was taken over by Karl Scheufele from Pforzheim in 1963. In addition to producing high-quality watches, Chopard began to create its own jewellery collection under the management of Scheufele's daughter Caroline. Jewellery has a long tradition at Scheufele and gradually the popular high jewellery collection was created.
Chopard's most famous jewellery collections are Happy Diamonds, Happy Hearts and Imperiale.
Today, Chopard is one of the few remaining family-run companies in the watch and jewellery industry. In July 2018, Chopard became the first luxury watch and jewellery company in this market to start using only fair-mined gold in the production of its collections.
DRUBBA MOMENTS at Lake Titisee is an authorised Chopard retailer.
