Louis-Ulysse Chopard, a talented 24-year-old watchmaker, founded the manufacture of watches called "L.U.C." in Souvillier in the Swiss Jura in 1860. The abbreviation goes back to his own name (Louis-Ulysse Chopard). His special talent was to create works of art with innovative design which, in combination with his existing chronometers and pocket watches, showed a completely new perspective and aroused great interest in the world of watchmaking. It was not long before an international clientele showed interest in his works of art.
103 years later, the Chopard brand made the headlines again: in 1963, Karl Scheufele from Pforzheim decided to integrate "Swiss Made" quality into his company and bought the Chopard brand with its workshops in Geneva from the grandson of the founder, Louis-Ulysse Chopard.
Together with his wife Karin, he turned Chopard into a global brand. Caroline Scheufele is responsible for the women's collection and the high jewellery creations and her brother Karl-Friedrich for the men's watches and Chopard production in Fleurier. L.U.C. watches and L.U.C. movements are produced in Fleurier, only 3000 L.U.C. movements are produced per year.
Sustainability is right at the top of the list at Chopard. The brand guarantees support for people in the supply chain and guarantees that raw materials are purchased in a sustainable manner. This environmentally friendly choice is the result of a project with Eco-Age "The Journey to Sustainable Luxury". In 2018, Chopard was the first luxury brand to use only fairly mined gold in its watch and jewellery production.
The Watch & Jewellery Boutique DRUBBA MOMENTS is an authorised Chopard retailer.
