This brand originally came from La Chaux-de-Fonds in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, when Louis Brandt founded a company in 1848 that concentrated on the manufacture of watches, but under a different name. The name OMEGA was first used 46 years later when a pocket watch called OMEGA became world famous. OMEGA is the last letter of the Greek alphabet and means perfection and was therefore used to describe this pocket watch.
Nowadays, watches are being developed that focus on specific purposes. The collection mainly includes diving watches, sports watches and pilot watches, which have become known among watch enthusiasts under the names Constellation, Speedmaster, Seamaster and De Ville.
In 1969, the OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch became internationally renowned as it was the first watch ever on the moon. For more than half a century, astronauts and space companies have relied on OMEGA watches. Thanks to OMEGA's pioneering spirit, mankind has also been able to discover the depths of space, not only because of the continuous improvement in precision.
OMEGA is also the official timekeeper at the Olympic Games, the world's most important sporting event.
